I love this machine! As a mother of an 11-month-old I use it everyday to vacuum up Cheerios and other crumbs that my son trails through the house. It is very easy to store and clean, the only issue that I have had with it is that the filter is a little hard to take apart. Once it's off it is very easy to clean, though. This is my third dustbuster. Every 3-4 years mine wears out and I buy a new one. I love the extra attachements on this model. It has great suction. Historically, Dustbusters have been anemic when it comes to suction. Performance-wise typically just okay. HOWEVER, this Black and Decker CHV-1400 has remarkably excellent suction. It will pick up most anything. Pet bedding/pine shreds/dirt/dog hair, etc are easy pickups. I use mine to tidy up around my fireplace, works great with ash and debris typical of fireplace or wood stove... Just make sure your ashes are cold!
You can't go wrong for 36.00 here on Amazon.

We own an African Grey parrot, and we use a hand vac on a daily basis. The scattered seeds and down feathers give the hand vacs a workout. We've went through various brands, plus other B&D models, and this particular model is the best we've owned. This is the second CV1400 we've owned, and if it lasts as long as the first one, we'll be extremely happy! Very powerful, with cyclone action, and I like the on board attachments, and the two speed motor.
